Frequently Asked Questions
I. I don’t feel like I fit the “political” mold. Is this for me?
Probably. Most of us don’t fit a mold. You don’t need a political science degree or a perfect opinion on every issue. If you care about fairness, freedom, and being able to live your life honestly, you belong in the conversation.
II. Are Democrats anti-rural or focused only on big cities?
No. Rural communities are the backbone of South Carolina, and we know that because we live here. We focus on what matters locally — good schools, healthcare close to home, strong infrastructure, reliable broadband, and keeping small towns alive.
III. Do Democrats support working people?
Yes. We believe folks who work hard should be able to make a decent living, afford healthcare, and retire with dignity. We support policies that strengthen local jobs, protect workers, and help small businesses succeed — not just big corporations.
IV. Why should I vote locally if national politics feels broken?
Because local elections directly affect your daily life. School boards, county councils, and local offices decide things like classroom resources, road maintenance, emergency services, and utilities. Local voting is one of the most direct ways to make your voice count.
V. I’ve never voted Democrat before. Will I be judged?
No. Many of us didn’t always vote the same way we do now. What matters is caring about the future of Laurens County and being willing to listen, learn, and show up.
VI. How can I get involved without jumping in all at once?
You can start small:
-
Come to a meeting and just listen
-
Volunteer for a local event
-
Help register voters
-
Have a one-on-one conversation with someone you trust
